eGFR Calculator (CKD-EPI)
Free health calculator · eGFR (estimated Glomerular Filtration Rate) measures how well your kidneys filter waste. This calculator uses the race-free CKD-EPI 2021 equation, the current clinical standard that replaced the older race-based formula.
What is eGFR?
eGFR above 90 is normal. 60-89 is mildly decreased (common with aging). Below 60 on two tests three months apart defines chronic kidney disease (CKD). The CKD-EPI 2021 equation replaced the older race-based formula. 37 million Americans have CKD, and 90% are undiagnosed. Diabetes and hypertension are the leading causes.
eGFR and longevity
Kidney function is a cornerstone of longevity. The cardiovascular-kidney-metabolic (CKM) syndrome framework recognizes that heart disease, kidney disease, and metabolic dysfunction form a self-reinforcing triad. NSAIDs are among the most common reversible causes of eGFR decline. Maintaining eGFR above 90 through blood pressure control, hydration, and avoiding nephrotoxins is a core longevity strategy.
